From being the youngest designer to debut at the Lakme Fashion Week in 2006 to establishing himself in the fashion industry with the launch of his brand ‘D-Stress’ in 2006, to being the favourite of B- Town stars like Shahid Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor, Kunal Rawal has come a long way and is truly a fashionable success story. He has also styled for movies like Aisha, Aarakshan, Dukudu (South film) and will also design for the Akshay Kumar’s upcoming Desi Boyz creating quite a buzz in the fashion fraternity . Apart from bollywood, he has also styled successfully for many ads with an impressive line up of Dollar, Ever ready, Bru, Vaseline, Pioneer, Lays, Sure Deo and Mirinda, not to mention his print media shoots with the likes of Amitabh Bacchan, Aamir Khan for magazines like cine blitz, filmmfare and people magazine.
Kunal Rawal, born on september1985, this London College of fashion product has redefined men’s fashion with his keen aesthetic and attention to detail. In addition to LCF and specialization in merchandising and contemporary menswear, he has worked with several international design houses in the past to gather a vast array of experience . Buzzing with creative energy, the designer’s den and creative hub is a plush bungalow at Juhu Scheme, which spells his beaten clean technique.
A Mumbai boy at heart, his style is a mix of international influence with generous sprinkling of flavour of India. Everything from his sherwani coats, summer suits, trade mark worked on shirts, accessories like eye wear and flip-flops reflect his individualistic style statement. Kunal terms his creation as contemporary fashion which might be formal or casual wear but with contemporary styles, cuts, applications, silhouettes and detailing – complete with tons of fun, spunk and attitude.
Kunal has an impressive body of work with an art collaboration with actor Salman Khan’s Being Human foundation, an active wear range for the Rajasthan Royals (winners IPL 1 Team), and lately to add to his long list of achievements, Kunal was also announced as Creative Head of the leading menswear label PROVOGUE for autumn winter 2010 and spring summer 2011. The journey till now has been indeed a fairy tale success story and shows a promising future with hint of numerous accolades in years to come.
