This ex-Supermodel designed Soha Ali Khan’s baby Inaaya’s nursery
July 17, 2018While Bollywood usually sees a lot of kids following in their elders’ footsteps – Tapur Chatterji is not quite the same. But then, her grandfather wasn’t quite run of the mill either. In an era of high voltage, over the top, drama Hrishikesh Mukherjee was doing his own thing, making endearing films like Anand.
His grand-daughter, once one of India’s best-known supermodel, could have well made her way into Bollywood as an actress. Many of her contemporaries did. Tapur, however, found her calling elsewhere. She has forayed into design and interiors and launched her own entrepreneur outfit. Tapur, in fact, had studied art and architecture from Rachna School Of Art And Architecture.
Talent never gets lost. At least in Mumbai. And Tapur today has designed for the likes of Kareena Kapoor and Soha Ali Khan – all a part of the Tapur Chatterji- Design & Décor clientele. “Designing has always been my childhood dream. While modeling was accidental, designing was destined. When I design something I am creating a brand new extension of myself and this process is quite exciting. From an inspiration perspective, I love structured patterns that evolve in a fluid and innovative way. There is a lot of Moorish Architecture that influences my line of thought,” she tells us.
And her clients are all quite happy. “Tapur designed Inaaya’s nursery and it was perfect. She executed our vision perfectly. She has impeccable taste and is thorough in her work personally overseeing every tiny detail until it is exact. She extends herself beyond the scope of work and is such a wonderful person to work with on something as precious and potentially stressful as designing your baby’s room,” informs Soha Ali Khan. Way to go, girl!
