Editorial !
December 1, 2012Happy December! Winter, vacations,Christmas,New year planning and many things that make people happy in December. this year’s show stopper is definitely Dooms day on 21-12-12. Many people don’t
believe it, but you believe it or not global society is now can’t wait for it. Keeping aside, I want to talk about some thoughts, life philosophy later evolved as a society. Hippy society, punk society are the fine example of it.
“I see in the fight club the strongest and smartest men who’ve ever lived. I see all this potential and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables, slaves with white collars, advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of the history man, no purpose or place, we have no Great war, no Great depression, our great war is a spiritual war, our great depression is our lives, we’ve been all raised by television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars, but we won’t and we’re slowly learning that fact. and we’re very very pissed off.”
– Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club
“But today’s society is characterized by achievement orientation, and consequently it adores people who are successful and happy and, in particular, it adores the young. It virtually ignores the value of all those who are otherwise, and in so doing blurs the decisive difference between being valuable in the sense of dignity and being valuable in the sense of usefulness. If one is not cognizant of this difference and holds that an individual’s value stems only from his present usefulness, then, believe me, one owes it only to personal inconsistency not to plead for euthanasia along the lines of Hitler’s program, that is to say, ‘mercy’ killing of all those who have lost their social usefulness, be it because of old age, incurable illness, mental deterioration, or whatever handicap they may suffer. Confounding the dignity of man with mere usefulness arises from conceptual confusion that in turn may be traced back to the contemporary nihilism transmitted on many an academic campus and many an analytical couch.”
– Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
“Where you come from is gone, where you thought you were going to never was there, and where you are is no good unless you can get away from it. Where is there a place for you to be? No place.
Nothing outside you can give you any place,” he said. “You needn’t look at the sky because it’s not going to open up and show no place behind it. You needn’t to search for any hole in the ground to look through into somewhere else. You can’t go neither forwards nor backwards into your daddy’s time nor your children’s if you have them. In yourself right now is all the place you’ve got. If there was any Fall, look there, if there was any Redemption, look there, and if you expect any Judgment, look there, because they all three will have to be in your time and your body and where in your time and your body can they be?”
– Flannery O’Connor, Wise Blood
Society, where we grow up, talk, celebrate, live.

“A reader is the best critique.”
Fried eye been very close to my heart and I have seen it evolving from the nascent stage of late 2009. Whenever I get time, I do read its articles and wherever feel do comment too. I make sure I do not miss on Editorial as an Editorial is an essence of the complete volume. It is a soul of the complete package. It is the stepping stone of a journey yet to start … An editorial is a foreword of collected hard work of everyone whosoever has worked towards bringing out the best of the present volume but to my utter shock as a reader I was disappointed to read this very editorial. An editorial is not all about using flowery language and using some words for which one has to rummage through the narrow corridors of dictionary. An Editorial must have an attraction, a magnetism which entices one to read ahead, to commemorate the journey of past or present. It can be anything like talking about some present scenario or any famous personality who has been discussed off late in the society or any particular recent event but certainly it can’t be a complete haphazard. It should have a continuity while reading it. Quoting three big paragraphs of someone back to back without much prelude doesn’t make a sense. It is not an Essay Competition where one needs to use those nerve shaking words or quotes without any connection to the prior. For editor’s knowledge Nihilism is not present day theory. Started way back in mid 19th-century in Russia and it talks about A diffuse, revolutionary movement of mid 19th-century Russia that scorned authority and tradition and believed in reason, materialism, and radical change in society and government through terrorism and assassination.
So how can it be NEW ?
Anyways as the Editor has promised and hopeful of bringing out the best on 15th .. I hope the same. Pl do not get offended by my comments , it is against a particular person or for his/her writing skills, I am no one to challenge anyone’s supremacy or authority over here but yes as a reader of FRIED EYE, I do expect and hope for some serious efforts towards Editorial as the reason aforesaid mentioned.
