Dia Mirza Supports Deepika Padukone and Padmavati
December 8, 2017The Padmavati row refuses to die down, despite the film being postponed indefinitely. Political leaders have continued to derive mileage out the film with continued remarks. In the meantime, the film industry continues to show solidarity with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone.
The latest person to join the gang is actress Dia Mirza who believes it is not responsible on anyone’s part to threaten people, or use violence of any sort. A believer in the democratic framework of society, Dia says, “Creative expression is a personal expression. When you are a part of a democratic society, you have the opportunity to express yourself and you must use it freely. But that freedom of expression comes with responsibility. While there is room for dissent, you cannot do that through threats and aggression.”
Over the last one month Deepika Padukone has been at the end of much criticism with fringe elements making demeaning remarks against her. Rajput Karni Sena member Mahipal Singh Makrana had gone on to call for chopping of the Piku actresses’ nose. Another leader Thakur Abhishek Som offeres Rs 5 crore for her head. Deepika of course responded admirably with “I will never feel scared. Fear is not an emotion I have ever identified with.”
The actress also addresses the intention of the filmmaker that is often questioned by people, accusing them of profiteering out of sensitive topics. “Similarly, with filmmakers, if their intention is good then they should be allowed the freedom to do what they wish. if we keep getting aggressive about such things we will fight all the time. And unfortunately, these days I feel we are actually doing that,” Dia points out.
