Bollywood Posters of the Past: They don’t make such anymore
November 8, 2014When we were kids we were not allowed to watch cinema in halls unlike today’s generation. Bollywood movies were a bigger NO. I still remember there was a huge wall on the way to our school and perhaps it was owned by or rented to Bijou Hall, one of the best halls at that time in Shillong. Every Thursday evening while returning from school we used to eagerly wait for looking at the poster for the next day’s cinema. It was the next best thing we could get to watching cinema in hall. They were flashy, yet you can say that it was an art and a completely different genre of art in itself. The digital age has sadly brought death to this art. We bring you some of our favorite posters of that time that we could manage by browsing internet.
Pyaasa is not just a movie very close to my heart, I find something very mystifying in its poster.
How can a list of posters be complete without Amitabh Bachchan. When it comes to Bollywood Posters, Deewar is probably the first poster we relate to.
Amitabh Bachchan had a very different role in Kabhi Kabhie ( I am not sure why this extra e in the second word). The poster brings out the frustrated anger very well.
Mother India poster is almost the symbol of Bollywood.
Rowdy Rathore is a movie that tries to bring the glory of the past in it’s poster.
